Sharon Gilmartin, MPH

Sharon Gilmartin, MPH, is the Executive Director of the Safe States Alliance, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the practice of injury and violence prevention. With over two decades of experience in public health leadership, policy advocacy, and coalition building, Sharon guides the Alliance’s strategic vision to support state and local efforts in preventing injury and violence and promoting community safety.

Throughout her career, Sharon has championed collaborative approaches to complex public health challenges, working across sectors to elevate prevention priorities and secure vital federal and state investments. Under her leadership, Safe States has expanded its national reach, deepened its policy impact, and strengthened its role as a trusted voice for injury and violence prevention professionals across the country. Sharon holds a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Washington in Seattle.
