Stephanie Mayfield Gibson, MD
Dr. Mayfield Gibson is Director of the U.S. COVID-19 Response Initiative for Resolve to Save Lives, An Initiative of Vital Strategies.
Dr. Gibson is an experienced health executive in the public and private sectors. She was the first African American and first woman commissioner of public health for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. After her tenure as state health commissioner, she led the transformation of the largest healthcare system in Kentucky, addressing basic human needs across the total continuum of health, as the senior vice president and chief medical officer for population health.
Dr. Gibson is a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. She completed medical school at Meharry Medical College, residency at University of Louisville, and graduate executive education at Harvard University. Her passion is mentoring tomorrow’s leaders.
